What are illustration and fine art?
For me, illustration is a visual image that have its message and content. The audiences can easily get the message that the artist would like to give. Illustration is not just about digital drawing or hand drawing. Illustration can be created by many different ways. Even though you use the material other than drawing stuff to create an art piece, it can be consider as a illustration. Fine art is the artwork that the artist express themselves through their drawings. Sometimes, we can easily to understand about their artworks. Fine art has its own long history, and also it is more focus on realistic design. These are what I thought before I read the articles which my lecturer gave me.
After reading some articles that I found online,I found that illustration is a visual representation of something. It can be created by any by any media. Even though the art piece is done in mix-media, it consider as an illustration as well. You can see many different style of illustration around us, like magazine, storybook, and so on. There is an article I read on Internet, which discuss about fine art, illustration and graphic design. The author is a person who work in illustration for 3o years. In the article, she mention that "fine art is created by and for the artist." Fine art can be abstract or representational. The artist can be anteing the artist feel like to do at that moment. Illustration. However, I think both of them are same in communicating a message. As what I read from an article, "Art is a language." Both of them can convey a message through the artwork, but the fine artist and illustrators just find their talent in their own. Therefore, they try to convey the message in the way they want and comfortable with.

There is a workshop during the class. We made an art piece with the unconventional things. For example, clothes. Our lecture brought a lot of clothes on that day. The art piece that we made have to be related with our main brief which was our project for design process subject. So for my project, I would like to do a map about Eco Park. Eco Park is a forest like what I had mentioned before, so I would like to do something about nature. I took some green colour clothes and some fake grass. One of my classmate studied fashion design before, she teach us how to "tear the clothes", so we can separate the clothes quickly. I also took some paper bags and other colour of clothes.
After I took the materials that I wanted. I started to do design. At first I would like to do a person by using a pink colour clothes, but I didn't have string to fix it. Then, I tried to make a person by using the paper bag. I teared the paper by using my hands. I didn't draw or sketch anything on the paper bag before I teared it. I just tear it randomly. I also tried to make a tree by using the clothes. I used green colour clothes to create the top of the tree. I used sample to fix it. I tried to make the clothes to have many creases, so that it can be more nature. For the truck of the tree, I used the paper bag and I flip it in few times. Therefore, the paper had some creases as well. Then I use the paper bags, fake grass, green and blue colour clothes to create the background of my art piece.
Finally, my art piece was done. I didn't put any glue to stick them together, but I have take a picture before I left the classroom. Here was what I had create during the class:
