Lakamade Sharing Session

There was a Lokamade sharing session on Thursday(9/5).

Lokamade is a local brand in Malaysia. It is created by a group of teenagers. There were two people came to our college on that day. They shared about their experiences and also their concept in making their brand.

Before going to the sharing session, I saw their product before when I went to KL Commercial Bookshop. I knew that their postcards were nice and also I like their style of drawing the illustration.

Their popular product is postcard. Most of their postcards are about the places in Malaysia. Their postcard was different from traditional postcard, as the postcard can become "3D style" by following the instructions that they have given. Even though their illustrations on the postcards are nice and special, but the price of the postcards are not expensive. The illustrations of their product are digital.

They have shared their website and Instagram during the sharing session. I have follow their Instagram and visit their website on that day. They have also sell some sticker and other product instead of postcards.

After they shared their experiences and concept, there is a Q&A part. I didn't ask any question during that time, but I asked questions after the sharing session. I had asked a lot of questions, like how their find their style of illustration and so on. After I asked them questions, my friends went and asked them questions again. I followed them and listened. I had get many information after this sharing session. Not only the information about design or drawing, but also the information about marketing. This is because, I had asked some questions about marketing after the sharing session.

From what I had asked and the answer I had get from them, I think research is an important part when we would like to do anything as well as design. However, we have to do the research which related to our topic and suitable for our topic. Research is not just about picture, illustration. We should do some research on book as well. Maybe I should go to the library and start doing my research on book.

After I asked them the questions, they gave me a set of postcard as a gift. I was really happy to get it! I like it so much! Thank you Lokamade! LOVE IT!!!

I really like the style of Lokamade. It's hard to find some digital illustrations in Malaysia. Especially the nice and meaningful illustrations.
