This week we're going to learn about stop motion. Our lecturer asked us to bring some clay and tripod to college. Before the class started , she wanted us to download an app which was called stop motion.

Stop motion is a technique that we use the photos to create the impression of movement. The are 12 principles of animation. For example, squash and stretch, slow in and slow out, followthrough, anticipation, exaggeration, arcs and so on.

After our lecturer taught us the way of using stop motion app, and told us some principle of animation, we started to try a stop motion video by ourselves. We were asked to use the clay and roll it in a ball shape. Then, we could start playing the clay with stop motion and the technique our lecturer taught.

Sally and I decided to make the video together.

This video was our first try to make stop motion by using clay. Instead of using clay, we tried to use another the object to make stop motion video.

This was Sally's AirPod. We tried to move it, so that it's looked like walking.

Tutorial

For tutorial I showed my ideas for the motion project(animation) to our lecturer. At first, I thought the the animation should be 1 min, but my classmate told me that it should be 30sec. Therefore, I had changed my ideas for a few times.

The storyline for my animation basically is about an argument between a child and his parent. They are in a restaurant yumcha and eating dim sum. The son would like to eat Cha Siu Bao, but he didn't tell his mother about it. His mother order Xiao Long Bao. Then, the son feels angry and push all the dim sum over the table. The waiter come and ask the child what bun do he like, and the child answer the waiter "Cha siu Bun".
