This week we learned about story board.
Story board usually used to communicate the flow of the entire story with visuals and informative text. Visuals are used to be the part in organising "stories". Here are some steps can help when you would like to make a story board:
1. Planning the short flow
- You can draw an arrow to remind how the scene are going toe. For example, the camera is moving from left to right when the character is walking. Then you can draw a arrow on LH side. OR you want to zoom in the scene, then you can draw two arrows which point in to the middle.
2.Drawing the mise en scene
- mise en scene = arrangement of all the visual elements of a theatrical production within a given playing area the stage
- It has 4 formal elements: a. The physical setting and décor, b. The staging of the action, c. The manner in which these elements are framed. d. The manner in which they are photographed
- Shots that you can use when drawing a storyboard: long shot, closeup, medium shot, extreme close up and so on.

- Shot angles can help viewers understand the relationships between the characters. For example, low angle, high angle, bird-eye and so on.

- POV, point of view shot : allows the audience to see what's going on through a character's eyes

- Master shot : watching a play from somewhere out in the audience

- 180 degree rule : using a slang term for the 180 degree rule or line of action

⚠️camera A, B and C are using 180 degree rule, but camera D is not
- depicting the camera moving are included in story board as well. You are required to write down some notes to show the movement of the camera.
After our lecturer explained the way of drawing a story board, she gave us a class activity. We were asked to separate in group of 3, and we had to draw a scene of making breakfast. Even, Sally and I were in a group. After we discussed, we wrote down some notes and started drawing by using the template. The template were drawn in rectangle shape as the videos nowadays were not played in square anymore. If we still drawing our storyboard in square, we might have some empty spaces when we started filming.
Here is the template our lecturer give us:

Here were what we had done for the class activity:
Tutorial
For my assignment, I showed the audios that I found to our lecturer. There were a few audios I had shown, but I prefer to choose a song which named Cha Siu Bao. Cha Siu Bao is a Cantonese barbecue-pork-filled bun. It’s serve as a type of dim sum during yum cha.
Dim sum - the food during yum cha
Yum cha - drink tea/ going for dim sum, is the Cantonese tradition of brunch
This song original sung by Zhang Zhong Wen. In this song, you will be introduced different type of Chinese bun, such as Xiao Long Bao. Here was the audio that I choose:
